day of handball

My sunday was full of Handball. Olympic Handball to be exact, as the Irish have their own gaelic variant of Handball, which is a very strange game played on a raquetball court, where you have to hit the ball with your hand (who would have thought of that!).
It's the first championship match we won, it was close, but we won! We took also some pictures of the team after our glory victory, but I don't have them yet, as always...

At the moment I'm still learning, my last exam for this year takes place tomorrow at 1pm, so don't forget to wish me luck, PDE for those who know what that means. It's very practical here, e.g. we have to solve PDE's by separation of variables, or finding characteristics and a general solution or a weak solution. Such things. The most theoretical part is to justify that the solution you found is indeed a solution, Weierstraß M-Test and a tiny theorem that allows you to interchange the sum and the derivative operator, pow-wow.

cultural stuff

Today I did, besides plenty of learning for my PDE test on tuesday, some cultural stuff. I've been, together with Marianna, in The Helix at the theatre in the play 'How Many Miles To Babylon'. It's about two boys, growing up in the same place but in very different classes, working class and upper class. They become good friends, but due to the inadequadity of their relationship, they loose each other. They meet later on in the army again, to fight, one as officer, one as private, in the first world war. Very good story indeed. After the play, we went to Marianna's place, first to have a drink, then to eat something, and even later to watch the beginning of a very strange movie, hubbaho-tep or similar, but changed then to Pulp Fiction.

sunday busy sunday

Hard day for me, I'm tired from the Handball game this morning, which we unfortunately lost, and now I have to learn Time Series for the test on thursday.
The last two days have been very nice since my sister is here. We did lots of shopping and visiting in and around Dublin.
I will post also some pictures in the articles, but I need a small USB cable first. My 3-in-1 card reader failed for the memorysticks of our camera. I don't know why, thought it would work.
By the way, I'm back in Germany in 4 weeks!
Cu soon, tom

late night

I'm pretty tired in the last time, so I decided to sleep less, one will see if it works...
I'm glad to announce that my sister will visit me from thursday on, and against my apprehensions, I'll have time for her. The volleyball tournament has been cancelled, so we have nearly the whole weekend. I think I'll have another try to go to Newgrange on friday, let's see if it works out.
Besides everything, I have, again thanks to Goofy (if I would be honest, I would say he has discovered), discovered a new band, called the Blizzards, they say they play Ska-Pop or something similar. Really good!

weird I am (III)

you know already that I am weird, but there are also other weird people!
by the way, that's my lovely new hat, from galway!

belfast yesterday, bray today

hi again, this is also a continuing story, kind of, not really.
not really, because I don't have to tell much. we've been in bray today, nice place, on the seaside in the south of dublin. we just walked around there, to greystone, another nice little city. it was very windy as you can probably see on the pictures. yes, pictures! so i now proudly present some pictures, all from mathieu, the cousin of laeti, who is leaving tomorrow, sadly.

belfast today, bray tomorrow

I'm really sorry, but I still haven't got pictures!
I was in Belfast today, unbelievable, but it's a really nice city, lots of old buildings there. I thought it would be totally fucked up, because of the civil war, but it's a very nice place, and just 3h with the bus from Dublin!
As in the title described, I gonna go to Bray tomorrow, and I hope, I can present some pictures then, cause the cousin of Laetitia, Mathieu, makes pictures all the time. And because I'm an old picture-thief, I'll rip them off, and present them, as if they would be mine!

houseparty again

I don't know exactly why, but there are lots of houseparties in the last days. Unfortunately they are all in our living room. Normally I wouldn't care about it, but I have a test tomorrow! So I hope I'll find something to plug in my ears! But before, I think I could get a beer from them (schnorring, isn't it?).
Cu all, tom

Alone again!

This morning Flor went back home again and I'm again all alone, not all alone, because I have nice friends here, but I think you know what I mean.
I had a handball match today, too, unfortunately we lost, but I think it's ok, because in the other team there were playing lots of Irish National Team players, and we had only one of them on our side.

I have to learn Probability&Finance I till wednesday and Stochastic Modelling till thursday, P&F is similar to Stochastik II, so wish me luck for the test as everybody knows how bad I am in stochastics (why is this random variable measurable?).
Stochastic Modelling is all about Markov chains, but it's pretty easy, so don't bother about it!

nothing worked out

We didn't manage to go to Newgrange, nor have we been in the indie music playing pub. The shuttle bus to Newgrange was fully booked, on both days, friday and saturday, so there was no possibility to go there. But the dinner was very nice!
I want to say sorry to Goofy, as I'm stealing his wonderful pictures, but I have no camera yet, so I'll keep on robbing ;)

Flor in Dublin

Very happy week for me, because Flor's here! There are also some pictures to prove that! We didn't do anything special till now this week, but we'll have dinner tonight, and we'll go probably to a nightclub were they play nice indie music.
Tomorrow, as I have no lectures, we decided to go to Newgrange, which is a World Heritage Site. There are nice, very old tombs to see, hope it'll be fun there.
